1 Nok (Chorti'): Thread or wick. Glyph of a spool or weaving
1 No'j (Quiche) / 1 Caban (Yucatec Maya): meaning 'earth'
1 Ollin (Aztec): Rocking (as in weaving). Glyph of weaver's tool
Direction: East
Note: Nok describes the fine thread used in weaving, whereas tinam was cotton or cotton fiber. This sign might have been called ihben earlier, meaning earth spirit, which might explain the Yucatec name and meaning for the day. It would have been easy to associate the rocking motion of the weaving loom with the rocking motion of the earth during an earthquake.
